Wes Duncan is an Iraq War Veteran, Captain in the Air Force Reserve, Nevada Attorney and a proud member of our community
Wes was born in Sonora, California, a small town located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, and after graduating with his BA in Political Science, Wes attended the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where he received his JD.
After graduating from law school, Wes answered the call to serve his country and entered the United States Air Force. In December 2008, he deployed for six months to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where Wes worked in the Iraqi court system and assisted the Iraqis in prosecuting Al Qaeda and other extremist groups in Baghdad. Wes spent his entire four and a half years on active duty stationed in Las Vegas at Nellis Air Force base as a member of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, where he oversaw and prosecuted 40 courts-martials and assisted hundreds of active duty personnel and retirees with their legal needs.
When his active duty commitment ended, Wes decided to make Nevada his home and co
ntribute his passion for public service to the local community.
Wes passed the bar exam in July 2011, practiced law in the private sector, and is now a Deputy District Attorney working in the criminal division at the Clark County District Attorney’s Office. He also continues to proudly wear the uniform of the United States Air Force as a Reserve JAG at Nellis Air Force Base.
In November 2012 Wes was elected to the Nevada State Assembly. He served on the Judiciary, Education, Health and Human Services, and Legislative Operations Committee. He was named as the Las Vegas Review Journal’s Freshman Legislator of the year.
Wes is married to his beautiful wife Jennifer, a former active duty Air Force Nurse, and they welcomed their first son, Wesley Jr., in August 2013. They are excited to announce they are expecting twins later in the summer. In his spare time, Wes enjoys running, working out, reading, taking care of his two spaniels and being actively involved in his church community.
Wesley Duncan has served with honor and distinction in the war on terror, and he will continue this service and commitment as a member of the Nevada Legislature. I urge the voters of Assembly District 37 to
support Wesley with your time, your donations and your vote.
-Assemblyman John Hambrick
Wesley Duncan is an enthusiastic, intelligent young man whose experience as a US Air Force officer and as an attorney will make him a great addition to the Nevada Assembly. I very strongly endorse him.
